Wodon Wear Resistant Pipes Safeguard 30,000m³ Class Rake Suction Dredger

The new 30,000m³ dredger’s main hull was recently completed by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (Group) Co.(ZPMC)! This powerful vessel handles not only regular port dredging but also deep-sea operations like sand mining and ultra-long-distance subsea pipeline work. It's China's first ultra-large dredger of this class, boosting the nation’s global competitiveness in advanced dredging.

Leveraging 20 years of materials expertise, Wodon equips this "super-digging, super-strong, super-long-discharging" dredger with its own wear-resistant pipes. From ports to deep oceans, Wodon pipes handle extreme conditions with extraordinary properties, contributing to China’s development of dredging equipment.

Complete Wear Protection for All Applications: Ports to Deep Sea
Wodon wear resistant pipes solve three critical dredging challenges:

General Port Dredging
Conventional pipes rapidly deteriorate from sand and gravel abrasion. Wodon's proprietary dual-metal overlay welded pipes significantly extend service life even under harsh mixed abrasion from coral and volcanic rock during deep-sea sand mining. This reduces maintenance downtime caused by wear damage.

Deep-Sea Sand Mining
High-velocity sand causes pipe fractures during long-distance pumping. Wodon's triple-layer system features wear resistant surface overlay, flexible energy-absorbing interlayer and high-strength structural base. This integrated design resists abrasion while dissipating impact energy, preventing brittle fractures common in single-layer pipes and ensuring stable operation under complex pressure conditions.

Subsea Pipeline Operations
Facing the altwater corrosion from chloride ions, Wodon uses specialized corrosion-resistant alloys combined with optimized welding techniques and surface treatments. This also eliminates stress concentration risks while maintaining consistent performance in chloride-rich environments.

Wodon’s durable pipes also deliver sustainability benefits: reduced steel consumption through fewer replacements, compatibility with clean methanol fuels lowers carbon emissions.
As this Wodon-pipes-equipped mega-dredger operates in deep seas, it demonstrates China’s growing mastery in critical marine components. Beyond creating "dredger armor", Wodon empowers China’s technological independence in marine engineering wear resistance.
